Join us for a fun, educational and eye-opening Jane’s Walk on Lower Broad Street | La Broa’ — Providence’s Latino Cultural Corridor. It will be the only bilingual walk in Providence, and will be led by Nuestras Raíces Director, Marta V. Martínez along with students from Providence College, Global Studies Program.

Meet us on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in front of Mi Sueño, 1070 Broad Street at 12NOON to participate in this worldwide walking movement to bring citizens together to see their communities through a difference lens.

Our tour will take you back to the late 1950s and early 1960s to look through the eyes of Josefina “Fefa” Rosario and her husband, Tony, when they first arrived in Providence. Participants will see and hear the contrast between 2017 and 1957 and how this neighborhood has changed in some ways, and not in other ways.

Participants will enjoy cultural presentations by
Quisqueya en Accion’s (QIA) youth members. QIA Director, Marilyn Cepeda and Jesús Tintin, the coordinator of Calle Limpia of Broad Street and owner of Mi Sueño, both of whom live in the neighborhood, will talk about what La Broa’ and South Providence means to them and to Latinos in the City.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and keep an eye on the weather: we will host the walk in the event of drizzle (bring your own umbrella), but
will cancel in the event of heavy rain.
