I arrived here in New York City in 1973, where my mother, who had already arrived in 1966, then my little sisters, arrived in 1961 and that's when we arrived in 1973. It lasted a month in New York City and my father decided to send me here to my brother, who lived at the time, who lived in the city of Providence to attend school, which was very convenient for me. When I entered school with my sister, Hope High School.
When I got out of there in 1976. When, later, I made the decision to attend the Arthur Angelo School of Cosmetology at that time and it was on Washington Street, in the Downtown. When I graduated in '79, I found a job with an African-American barbershop. It lasted approximately there about three and a half years, when I met a person named Andy Clary, who worked in a bank and arranged for me to get a loan with SBA, with Small Business Administration. I first opened my salon at 1017 Broad Street, and stayed there for about four years. In 1986, I was offered another opportunity to purchase the property at 1053 Broad Street. And that's where I stayed until 2012, when I retired.
