I feel that being a woman while I was running a bit of a challenge, as a result I had to work harder in order for people to believe in me. There’s a misperception that just because you are a Latina and have an accent, you are not capable. I proved them wrong by becoming the first Latina, a women, in the Pawtucket School Committee, and now as a City Council Member.
