Marta V. Martínez, Executive Director of Rhode Island Latino Arts and Project Director of Nuestras Raíces: The Latino Oral History Project of Rhode Island will speak about the oral history project, and will share new research on the history of Cuban immigration to Rhode Island.

Miriam Gorriaran, Cuban Rhode Islander will share her personal story of fleeing Cuba after Fidel Castro took over the island.

Ana Flores, Cuban American artist and long time Charlestown resident, will speak about her ongoing artistic exploration of the island and its history. Her new book, The Island Draws Me, is a compilation of her sculptures and writings that resulted after two trips back to the island in 2002, and 2012.

• Free and open to the public.
